SCULPTURE IN THE AGE OF DONATELLO

Visitors follow a path of discovery as sculptures emerge from behind diaphanous curtains.

With renovations closing the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo in Florence, these Renaissance masterpieces graced New York for the first and only time within this exhibition at the Museum of Biblical Art. To maintain a feeling of artistic eminence, the design abstracts the space to an almost heavenly level referencing cloud-like forms. White scrims cluster artworks together, creating an ethereal background and allowing the artworks slowly reveal themselves to the visitor, forming a sense of mystery and discovery. The pure white in every detail of the design brings out the brilliance and marble, highlighting its every detail.
